Hotel industry or banking? In which industries is smiling to customers the norm?

We now know how often employees smile at customers depending on the continent and country. This post is the last in a series on the topic of smiling, and in it we present variations not only geographically but also by industry – thus answering the question of which industry employees smile most often and which least often.
It turns out that the employees of companies operating in the area smile the most. Health and Beauty – these will include pharmacies, drugstores and spas. 89% customers visiting these places are greeted with a smile. It's equally good in hotel industry, where the result was achieved at the level 86% and in finances (85%). These results should come as no surprise – the three industries mentioned above consciously put the customer at the center of their attention and compete with each other in terms of service quality.
The friendliness of the service in terms of smiles towards the customer is also high in public sector institutions (83%) and companies automotive industry (82%).
Where is it worse? Employees are the least likely to smile. transport industry – she meets him here 58% customers and in places related to kphysical culture and free time (75%).

Research methodology:
Globally, 685,072 questions related to smiles were asked. Results from 41 countries were used for the analysis. The data is provided by companies that conduct Mystery Shopper research in their countries – Quality Watch is one of them. As part of these studies, auditors – individuals posing as real customers – visit stores and institutions to check the quality of service. The Smiling Report analyzes such visits, taking into account only questions about smiling, greeting and upselling.
